I walked into the location most convenient for me, Mills Road in Ventura next to Trader Joe's. I was a walk in, which is "welcome" according to the wording on the windows.

Was told the next available appt was in 30 mins., at the slightest hesitation on my part, I was informed it would take about that much time to fill out "paperwork"?!! Really? Doesn't even take that long to fill out ppwk for an actual Dr.! So after waiting 10 mins after finishing the ppwk in 10 mins.

The front desk girl came over to discuss the information with me. Does she pass this along to the Therapist before they come get you for the actual massage? I don't see how they have time for this. Anyway, I talked to her, l inquired about a Thera-Cane they had for sell, none of the 4 had a price on them, I really wanted to purchase one on my way out, however l never got an answer, and after the actual massage experience, was no longer interested in purchasing anything from them.

The Therapist came to get me, escorted me to the room and proceeded to explain how the 1 hour massage would actually be only 50 mins., with a 5 min changing time at each end of the session.... That was the 2nd disappointment of the experience. The next thing was that for some reason the Therapist decided I needed to hear all sorts of personal stuff about himself! (Are these "Therapy Sessions" of a different type for them?) I asked for a full body massage, and only had work done on my neck and shoulders!!

I was sold an additional service of "hot towels and cooling gel" for the stiffness in my neck and shoulders! For an additional 12.00 I had a somewhat hot towel laid on my back and shoulders for approximately 30 seconds! Oh so therapeutic!! Then was massaged a bit more then had the towel laid on my back again for less than 30 seconds this time!!

Then he took a generous amount of the "cooling gel' slathered onto my shoulders and was asked to turn over onto my back for approx. 4 additional mins. And that was it!!!! All that for ONLY $61.00!!

And of course I was approached and encouraged to purchase a "membership" seriously??? They charge $49.00 for the first massage, which sounds good enough to get you in the door, but what happens after that isn't worth .49 cents to me. And the worst part is I AM A MASSAGE Therapist myself! And I could not in good conscience work at this type of establishment and will never recommend it to anyone or go there for myself.

Honestly, the "Asian Spa" in the Pacific View Mall is a better experience and a much better value as well! Seriously!!

Massage Envy was a huge disappointment and waste of money and time!

All "50" mins of it!

Monetary Loss: $61.

Location: Kaysville, Utah
